These Terms & Conditions (“Terms of Service” or “Terms”) govern the booking and delivery of Makaton training services, the purchase of digital products, and the use of this website and any related online services operated by Julie Tarn (Communication Consultant Teacher & Makaton Tutor) (“we”, “us”, “our”).

By booking training, purchasing digital products, or using this website, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not use our Services.


1. ABOUT THE BUSINESS

Julie Tarn is a self-employed Communication Consultant Teacher & Licensed Makaton Tutor, registered as self-employed with HMRC.

This website and online store are powered by Shopify. All services and products are provided directly by Julie Tarn.


2. MAKATON TRAINING – PRICES

  • All Makaton training prices are as advertised at the time of booking.

  • Prices are non-negotiable.

  • Prices may change at any time but will not affect confirmed bookings.


3. BOOKING AS AN INDIVIDUAL

3.1 Booking Requirements

To book, we require:

  • Full name

  • Postal address

  • Email address

  • Any special requirements (e.g. hearing impairment, dietary requirements for in-person training)

3.2 Payment

Payment is made by bank transfer to:

Your place is only confirmed once:

  • Full payment has been received, and

  • A completed booking form has been returned.

If you confirm a place by email, you are contractually obliged to pay the full fee stated.

Receipts are available on request.

3.3 Training Materials

  • Online courses:
    A hard copy Participant’s Manual is posted before training.
    A Certificate of Attendance is posted after training.

  • In-person courses:
    The Participant’s Manual (including Certificate of Attendance) is issued during training.

3.4 Attendance

  • You are responsible for noting training dates and times.

  • You must attend all sessions in full to receive a Certificate of Attendance.

3.5 Age Requirements

Makaton training may be suitable for individuals aged 16–17 years with an accompanying adult. Please contact Julie Tarn before booking.


4. BOOKING FOR ORGANISATIONS

4.1 Booking Requirements

For organisational bookings we require:

  • Names and email addresses of all participants

  • Any special requirements

  • A postal address for manuals and certificates (online courses)

4.2 Responsibility for Attendance

The person booking is responsible for ensuring participants:

  • Can attend all sessions in full

  • Receive their Participant’s Manual before training (if substitutions are made)

4.3 Invoicing & Payment

  • Invoices are payable within 30 days of issue.

  • Purchase Order numbers can be included if required.

  • Payment methods:

    • Bank transfer

    • Cheque payable to Julie Tarn

  • Late payments incur a charge of 25% of the invoice total per week until paid.

4.4 Training Materials

  • Online courses: Manuals posted before training; certificates posted after.

  • In-person courses: Manuals and certificates issued during training.


5. CANCELLATION – INDIVIDUAL BOOKINGS

5.1 In-Person Courses

  • 30 days’ notice: One alternative date offered.

  • Less than 29 days’ notice: No refund or alternative date.

5.2 Online Courses

  • No alternative place offered.

  • Exceptional circumstances may be considered.

  • You may rebook and will be charged the course fee minus the cost of the manual.

5.3 Trainer Cancellation

If Julie Tarn must cancel training:

  • Training will be rearranged, or

  • A full refund will be issued.


6. CANCELLATION – ORGANISATIONAL TRAINING

a) We will make every effort to rearrange cancelled sessions.
b) Organisations must give 30 days’ notice to cancel or reschedule.
c) Less than 30 days’ notice: the organisation is responsible for the cost of materials already ordered.
d) A non-refundable deposit may be required to secure dates.
e) Refunds (where applicable) will exclude deposits and incurred costs.


7. DIGITAL PRODUCTS

7.1 Definition

Digital products include downloadable resources, digital manuals, guides, videos, worksheets, and other non-physical content sold through this website.

7.2 Delivery

  • Digital products are delivered electronically via download link or account access.

  • Delivery is deemed complete once access has been granted.

  • It is your responsibility to ensure you provide a valid email address and have compatible software.

7.3 Refunds & Cancellations (Digital Products)

  • All digital product sales are final.

  • No refunds, exchanges, or cancellations are offered once access or download has been provided.

  • This does not affect your statutory rights in the event of faulty or misrepresented digital content.

7.4 Licence & Permitted Use

When you purchase a digital product, you are granted a non-transferable, non-exclusive licence for:

  • Personal use, or

  • Internal organisational use only (where stated)

You must not:

  • Share, resell, distribute, or reproduce digital products

  • Upload them to shared drives, websites, or social media

  • Use them for commercial training or resale without written permission

Unauthorised use may result in legal action.


8. WEBSITE & ONLINE STORE USE

You confirm that:

  • You are legally able to enter into a binding contract

  • All information you provide is accurate and up to date

  • You are responsible for maintaining account security


9. PRODUCTS, DESCRIPTIONS & AVAILABILITY

  • Descriptions are accurate to the best of our ability.

  • Images and colours may vary depending on device settings.

  • We reserve the right to amend or withdraw products at any time.


10. ORDERS & PAYMENTS

  • Orders are offers to purchase and are accepted once payment is processed.

  • We may refuse or cancel orders at our discretion.

  • Refunds are subject to our Refund Policy and Section 7 for digital products.


11. SHIPPING & DELIVERY (PHYSICAL ITEMS)

  • Delivery times are estimates only.

  • We are not responsible for delays outside our control.

  • Risk passes to you once items are handed to the delivery carrier.


12. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

All content, training materials, manuals, digital products, text, images and logos are the intellectual property of Julie Tarn or relevant licensors.

No rights are transferred except as expressly stated.


13. FEEDBACK

Any feedback submitted may be used for service improvement or marketing without compensation.


14. PROHIBITED USE

You may not use our Services to:

  • Infringe intellectual property

  • Harass or harm others

  • Transmit malware

  • Misuse digital content

  • Interfere with the operation of the website or Services


15. TERMINATION

We may suspend or terminate access to Services at our discretion. Outstanding payments remain due.


16. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES

All Services and products are provided “as is” and “as available”.


17. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Julie Tarn shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses.


18. INDEMNITY

You agree to indemnify Julie Tarn and Shopify against claims arising from your breach of these Terms.


19. SEVERABILITY

If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder remains in effect.


20. ENTIRE AGREEMENT

These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Julie Tarn.


21. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.


22. CHANGES TO TERMS

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
